Well we made it through the Thanksgiving Holiday and shopping craziness…and now onto the brunt of the holiday season! This involves weeks filled with work parties, ugly sweaters gatherings, cookie exchanges and tons of other things we have to get dressed up for!
Some Rules to help:
1. Don’t be afraid to make your wardrobe do double duty. For example, a great skirt can be made casual for get togethers with friends (simple sweater and flats) and dressed up your work holiday party (black opaque tights and a flattering blouse).
2. Utilize statement pieces like chunky necklaces, flirty heels and fun belts to jazz up more
3. Don’t be intimidated by over-the-top holiday glam. Tis the season to be extravagant!
Textures and prints can turn basics like a plain white tee or a pair of skinny jeans into a knock-out look. They allow your style to be elevated and create statement worthy looks. Never be intimidated to mix prints and textures, the key, as always, is to keep it simple and polished.
Kate and I, like our last Style Spotlight on Cori Imbrigiotta, are in love with the ever present leather trend. We both been in talks on how to rock a pair of leather shorts for a game day or evening out, we just can’t get enough leather! I for one never thought that the leather train, aside from a jacket or blazer, was one I would jump on – but I’m in my seat and ready to ride it out! I love faux leather detailing on tops and blazers as well as full on leather pieces from shorts to skirts to pants. We can’t get enough of the leather trend here at Polish and Flair!
There is nothing like rocking the color red to make a girl feel powerful. I don’t know what it is about the color, but when I put it on – especially in the form of a super great dress – my whole attitude changes. In this easy and simple look the dress does the talking and my positive attitude is along for the ride!
It has been a long time since women felt forced to suit up. However, even today some women feel bound to a monochromatic wardrobe made up of slacks, pencil skirts and simple blouses. Yet, we can go beyond these items and incorporate color and pattern into our wardrobes. These items are more than accepted in a professional environment. Give it a try!
